NickSchmitz100 says:

I would suggest keeping lithium batteries in a metal container, just in
case they were to catch fire it would be contained, not start your house on
fire

NickSchmitz100 says:

Nope, not the ultimate, just normal slash 4×4

KevinMillard68 says:

if you havent broken any parts with a 3s then you have not bashed that
truck properly i snap halfshafts all the time on 3s but never in 2s ,, good
video over all tho man

NickSchmitz100 says:

+David, The stock spur gear lasted a surprisingly long time. I’ve gone
through a few since then, hard to get that mesh just right.

Slash Racing says:

Nick, about the tape on the underside of the body you could just put the
lift thing on it that comes with the truck I did it and I’ve never had a
problem with after that. But your tape method works too!

hardyharhar801 says:

Lol, 70 MPH on 3s. You didnt read the box ey? Its 60MPH and maybe a little
over with the speed pinion and spur gear.

Reno. Boyz RC says:

shoe goo and mesh drywall tape works better, but nice tip!! ;)

Joshua Goldsmith says:

just to let u know if u get a fishing lure box u can hold all of your parts
in better order than just a box

Gabriel Zanin says:

I don’t understood that part with the green light. For example if I put a
Traxxas battery 3lipo 5000mah should I use it on the green light? Is that
what you meant?

PwnageRevenge says:

Thanks! I’m new to RC And I’m picking up a slash 4×4. They seem awesome!
Saving this video

david priest says:

I like how he says his spur gear has lasted 2 years even running on sand,
dude must have the only plastic spur to achieve this !

KNOTO RC says:

Nice vid, is that the slash ultimate?

mkdmarko1 says:

I broke my driveshafts on my second run on 2s lipo I recomend you buy mip
or other kind of metal driveshafts

Gabriel Alvarez says:

Great video, Nick. Thanks for the wonderful tips. I just got my Traxxas
Slash 4×4 Ultimate two days ago. I really appreciate the tip about the low
voltage activation and the tape to save the body. Thanks for taking the
time to provide this helpful information.

ThatOneAsianGuy says:

does anyone know a good brushless motor combo that is under $100?

weggs1981 says:

great video I have been wanting one. I’m from oak lawn not to far away.

Auyang 1 says:

Thx for the tips

Ronnie Jones says:

Great video. Thanks for the tips.

DeRock vapeAholic says:

Awesome video thanks for the tips but I did notice you are still using the
VLX motor. You really need to upgrade to the castle Mamba max pro 2400 Kv.
Running lipo on a stock motor not a good idea I know from experience man .
lol

TheAsianRc456 says:

Awesome vid

Christopher Dechant says:

nice vid

Callie Morrow says:

Awesome video….hubby and I are going tomorrow to get ours. I want to run
a late model body on mine, I’m a huge dirt track fan, hubby and I go to our
local track, Dixie Speedway, Woodstock, GA. The same people own Rome
Speedway in Rome, GA. Check them out they are AWESOME! Thanks for the tips
:-)

DeRock vapeAholic says:

Castle 4 pole is a must

jkw427 says:

Lol, great vid, but you won’t be getting 70mph on the 3S 11.1v vxl system,
unless it’s WAY over geared. But the extra stress of the 3S constantly,
will accelerate the the driveshafts wear. Lcg chassis is a must, as well as
sway bars. Huge difference in handling.

Dtdunlap17 says:

What kinds of oil do you use and what things do you oil?

isaiahdaplaya7 says:

What brand battery should I get

alltheluck says:

Great tips Nick! Thanks Mate! Cheers!

NickSchmitz100 says:

Oh well I don’t know what to tell ya then. The only thing I broke that
could have been from the lipo is a stripped gear but that was after about 2
years of use and running in sand. I have broken other parts but not really
because the lipo. And it’s break not brake

isaiahdaplaya7 says:

Great video. Im in to nitro but now I am staring with elec. How long dose
that battery last. And shouldn’t u put a fan on…

IronZombie says:

I have a traxxas slash two wheel drive Robby Gordon edition. Im trying to
get some advice for it. I am a basher and I took it to the bmx track, ran
it alittle too hard and now the wheels wobble in the front, slightly, they
aren’t loose they just act like the axle rods are slightly bent, Idk if
that’s a bad thing and I was wondering if you knew any upgrades I should do
to make it a better vehicle for jumps.

MrBurrito70 says:

Just a tip u might want to get a 2s it burnt up 2 VXL esc’s and one VXL
motor just saying. But i was done with traxxas electronics, there stuff is
shit. So I upgraded to castle 3800kv 4pole and SV2 esc. :p

sleeksm4 says:

extra zipties are a must and double sided tape

jack Norell says:

well i got a lipo 3s and i put it in my slash 4×4 and brakes all the time!
but i never crash it, just brakes

vinnymack441 says:

I took my axle cover off and now it’s scratched to shit….defiantly buy a
new one and trying your tape trick!

Streetvision says:

Yeah, that guy is uneducated. mah can be thought of as the batteries “fuel
tank” deals with how long it will last. more mah means more runtime. The C
rating is its discharge rate really. so you with your 6400mah 20c battery
can provide 120 Amps discharge, and your buddy can have a whopping 375 Amps
discharge continuous from his battery, if you ever come across a battery
that has something like 30-60C 30c is your continuious and 60c is your
burst. hope it helps.

m0parfan05 says:

The fact that the battery is a lipo isn’t the reason you’ll break parts.
It’s because it’s a 3S pack that gives the motor and much of the drivetrain
trouble. A 2S doesn’t in any way shape or form hurt the truck.

vinnymack441 says:

@rcprotests I have a slash 4×4 and 5000 Mah is not the limit, I use a 6400
20c lipo and I’m just fine, I also have a buddy that used to run a 7500 Mah
50c venom pack and he had no problem. So I recommend checking your stats b4
the fact

Streetvision says:

Mah is like the fuel tank in a battery, i could have a 7.4 volt 2000mah and
a 7.4 volt 6000mah and the only real difference is the run time i will get.
im not going to get into the 2s 3s lipo or nimh vs lipo discussion, but you
sir are a damn fool, for calling someone else an idiot when you have no
idea wtf you’re talking about. i could even take two 5000mah batteries and
run them in parallel for 10,000 mah while keeping the same voltage and run
it fine so STFU

NickSchmitz100 says:

What do you keep breaking?

NickSchmitz100 says:

Now you can get a 5000mah lipo battery from traxxas for the slash 4×4 and
the chart on the website, box from the truck, and user manual states use of
5000+ mah 3s lipo batteries is what achieves the most performance and the
truck can handle it fine.

NickSchmitz100 says:

Yeah I understand the 3S puts more stress on everything but it hasn’t
caused me any problems and I like the performance of the 3S

NickSchmitz100 says:

And if you charge and take care of lithium batteries they really are not
that dangerous at all.

NickSchmitz100 says:

Well electric is great because it’s quieter and you can use it whenever by
just putting a betters in without gas or starting. And it’s easier to fix
with less maintenance. A cooling fan would help a little and I’m
considering getting one, but if you don’t keep doing full speed passes the
whole time then it shouldn’t be too bad. My battery in the video is great
and lasts about a half hour of intense running mixed with driving around
and stuff.

rctechhelp says:

dont use duck tape you have to use shoe goo

NickSchmitz100 says:

any brand should be fine as long it is the size you want. I am really happy
with the battery i got, it is still working good, has a lot of power
because of 3s and also a good capacity for a pretty long run time

Rcprotests says:

did you know that is the most dangersest batrry in the world you got there
and you are a using 5300 mha the max for your car is 5000 you think your
smart!
