What is the best RC model airplane to learn on. Opinions abound. Kent shows you what to avoid and discusses the criteria for a good trainer. He feels the SlowBipe has the best all around characteristics for a beginner, especially if you are trying to learn on your own. In Part 2 he will show how easy it is to put one together and get it ready for flying.

This pretty much sums up the start of my flying days haha I didn’t give up
though. I glued that bastards back together and it works fine now…

Graham Smith says:

Good advice,it must have took some serious determination to fly in the old
days,3 seconds of flying then hours of gluing it back together again after
the umpteenth crash,I take my hat off to the pioneers.

PlainN SimpleMan says:

Very well produced and very informative video. You answered some questions
I had. Thanks man. I subscribed too

Joe Green says:

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for all your help. I
bought a 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300d dieasl car. And for Christmas I received a
R/C plane. I really think it was more for my son than me. I have fallowed
your advice on my car, and now you’re advice on R/C models. From myself and
my boys we thank you.

PlainN SimpleMan says:

I’m glad I watched, I was going to get a fighter jet and I have never flown

cluber82air says:

Whats the model in the back ground ??? Is it a x35 i have one but its all
silver would like one that colour was it painted or did you?

Randall Huston says:

Another great beginner plane is the Easy Star. When properly set up it will
almost fly itself. It’s also nearly indestructible. I do agree that the
Slowbipe is a lot of fun. It will loop in it’s own length.

William Tell says:

Hey, it’s the Mercedes Benz guy!!

The missed quickscop3 says:

I started with a dynam f4u and haven’t crashed it once

Eric brathwaite says:

It’s true

nice video, my son found this,(video) He is just as you described the other
kid at the flying field, knows how to fly on a sim but doesn’t have any
idea about flying outdoors ,I my self have been flying for around 15 or so
years self taught and I learnt totally different to how you suggested I
started with a self built 2mtr wingspan balsa glider and all I did was for
2/3 months was throw it on a big field and glide it to get a feel for it
then I made up a bungy cord and did that for about 6 months then got into
my first trainer plane and picked it up quite easily. Just by having a bit
of experience with the glider taught me how to set my trims, not to stall
and most of all learning to set up a landing. I think for beginners a large
slow plane or glider would be the best way to go if your keen to get into
really fun and exciting hobby.

kevin brooks says:

yup, some good points here, when i first started out i bought an acro wot,and
i thought i would just be able to fly it. yeah…….it was less than 6
seconds,i got it of the ground and then had no idea what to do,minor
breakage,then i finaly got a champ,which helped a lot in teaching,but i did
it by myself, and now i can fly that acro wot pretty well.
