with RC!

Thanks Matteo, that stirred up some old memories. I wish I’d taken
photos right from when I got my first Tamiya, the Grasshopper 31 years ago,
well it will be 31 years in june. It’s videos like yours, that drive me to
put more up, and make a better job of each one.
Thank you so much for the trip down memory-lane

potatothorn says:

I was obsessed with Tamiya in the ’80s. The Hornet was my first, followed
by the Lunchbox and the Thundershot, and I love them to this day. Great
video! Subscribed!

Billy Ray says:

Hi Matteo, I’m in my 40’s and my first Tamiya RC car was the Frog also. It
was indeed a kind of magical time for me and a dream to finally own one of
these fantastic RC kits. Some 3-4 years earlier around 1980 I was standing
in our local hobby store watching Tamiya’s promotional video on the Sand
Scorcher and Holiday Buggy. Prior to this I had RC cars from Radio Shack
but they were toys. When I saw the Tamiya RC cars in 1980 I knew I had to
have one. By 84 I had the Frog and I had a blast with that thing. Many more
Tamiya RC cars followed and some non Tamiya too, however Tamiya RC holds a
special place in my heart since it captivated my imagination and thrilled
me as a young lad….

Great video’s Matteo! And thanks for sharing your Tamiya RC beginnings with
us.

iforce2d says:

aarrgh so many memories!! 🙂 Thanks for uploading this, it’s great to
remember. You guys were already getting some really good photos way back
then.
I had a Fox – always wanted a Hotshot or Boomerang but couldn’t afford it
hahah. Interesting how that original battery size and shape has stayed with
us so long huh… I sure don’ t miss those old mechanical speed controls
though!!

neontetra1000 says:

I think you were very lucky with the time period you enjoyed cars, 1986 was
the vintage year for the best cars and you had several of them, Porsche
959, clod and bigwig!, 3 of the best, i can see that you drove them hard as
well!, i never seen a monster beetle so high in the air!!. Excellent video.
10/10.

Gery's Modellbaublog says:

photos with everything considering. Being a fan of Tamiya RCs this brings
back many happy memories.

Thank you!

Shahram Maleki says:

As usual Matteo, another excellent video, I watched the whole thing. That
959 is the most special model. I really want a Brusier or Mountaineer, but
they are very expensive. But I think a Hotshot and Clodbuster might join my
collection soon.

Chaps' Unlimited says:

Man i love your videos! This one takes me back because I have owned several
of the very same ones you have. Please continue the nostalgia series of
videos my friend they rock!

Toni Eugster says:

Gruss Toni

Very nice collection, I too have always quote the monster beetle I’d buy a
kid, I never wanted to part with. Moreover it can be seen in one of my
video “workshop and garage.” It’s beautiful nostalgia ………..

Ogre Supreme says:

Thanks for sharing your Tamiya retrospective! It certainly brought back
memories of my first purchase in 1984/85: The Tamiya Fox. Today, it sits
proudly on display in my home computer office. Glad to meet another
“old-timer” in the rc hobby 😉 Cheers!

BRMN8R says:

We can see where your passion of film and RC stems from, Matteo! I wish I
had taken more photo’s back in the 80’s of my Tamiya’s. That was a
beautiful look into your RC history and thank you so much for sharing it
with us!

Lorenzo Misani says:

Matteo, always a pleasure to see your videos on youtube!

Johnny Wadd says:

what a great video. outstanding. Your English is good. Thanks for the
memories! I had the original Clod Buster in 1987!

Del350K4 says:

Thank you for coming out from behind the camera and introducing us to your
incredible rc history. Such an impeccable standard of build, right from the
very beginning! Your early creativity is expressed not only in the
composition of the photos but also in the album itself. It´s astonishing to
think how, in the pre-digital age, we were building, driving and
photographing rc cars (often Tamiyas) in different places and countries all
over the world, having parallel experiences in isolation. I remember lying
in the grass taking nearly a whole film of photos as my girlfriend jumped
my Midnight Pumpkin past me, then going home with no idea whether we´d got
a single useable photo…often we didn´t!
I think it´s testimony to to excellence of this video that it has so far
had eight views and eight “likes”…

kazacorpora says:

great video

Greg Verellen says:

Awesome Video, I owned the big wig 4×4 racer, it came as a kit with oil
filled damper shocks and a variable pitch 540 or 550 brushed motor. Cool I
raced that buggy around on chicken island in point franks, launching it of
ten foot doons and it was quick….

pitstep RC Channel says:

saving pictures since boy, also its wonderful editing.
you have many good memories with a good friend…
I remembered the time when played RC with a friend in the days of teens.
thanks to you, i feel happy.

Jax Teller WA says:

Fantastic video Matteo, I loved it mate. I am now a 42 year old man and I
am so happy that I got to be a child of the 80’s when all these great
Tamiya and Kyosho cars were the best thing ever! Each and every car that
came out was like something new that had never been done before and it was
all so exciting! All the cars these days are just improvements on cars that
were already here. My favorite car that I owned at the time was the Kyosho
Optima and I still have it to this day, although it has been picked apart
for parts over the years. I hear these are quite the collectors model now.
I can see why your vids are so good, I think you have had the love for RC
and photography of RC cars your whole life!
Great work my friend (o;

NiekkieNick says:

I really regret that I didn’t photographed my rc cars in the Eighties. Did
own a couple of Tamiya’s like the Can Am Lola, Subaru Brat, Big Wig, Golf
Kamei and a Lotus Formula 1 with a Black motor. Thanks for sharing this!

scale RC fun says:

respect to the man who REALLY LOVE this hobby.

BHSBlackHoleSun says:

Thank you Matteo for sharing your memories 🙂
As for this special video, it is always fun to see how people get into the
hobby… and get back into it a few years later. Sounds familiar, though 😀
By the way, it seems like you “created” the Super Clod Buster name before
Tamiya did 😀
About your videos in general, they are always very interesting: perfectly
directed to reflect the model, pure demonstrations of your passion and how
much you like your models.
