Hooning around with RC cars! I’ve always wanted to see how an electric rc car would do drag racing a real car, now I know. We were using a Traxxas Slash 4×4 and an E-Revo, both are brushless running Lipo batteries.
I was only racing to about the 330′ mark because by that point most of the cars had caught me.
We were at Royal Purple Raceway for the ASA (Automotive Service Association) and BG Products race day. There weren’t many cars so we started lining up the rc cars on the return road and drag racing the cars on the track.

I’d have liked to see the XO-1 take on some of these. Of course, with a few
bucks ANY RC car can take on the cars here. I know of 1/18th scale Dromida
trucks that could compete with the 1/10 vehicle that was racing the real
cars. A buddy of mine raced at the Regional levels and he’s got his dromida
modified to the point we figure it’s doing around 60 — up from 20 stock. I
know of Slash trucks that can do over 80. Modify an XO-1 just right and I’m
betting on 150. What some newcomers to RCing don’t always know is that
while YES Nitro vehicles are heavier and sound MUCH cooler, Electrics beat
them out in every other aspect. I Miss my 1/10th Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec First
Gen, but I am happier with a pair of Dromida trucks to race on weekends.

doesn’t get (as) mad because it doesn’t make such a big mess. She still
gets mad when I take them apart and clean them though :D
